| There it is, BORINGham, Alabama! |

Life IS but a dream! ~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, here's where I post my ramblings about how much I hate Birmingham, Alabama. Yes, I could move. Yes, I could have moved a long time ago. However, here I remain, until the Lord sees a way out for me. I'm currently six years away from retirement at the ripe old age of 45 years old (I started working when I was twelve! Hahaha!) If I leave now, I'll forfeit any retirement benefits and money. The Hubby is doing GREAT in his Corporal position at the police department, so him leaving that job is almost null and void at this point. Not to mention five months ago, we had a beautiful new baby boy, so leaving right now is out of the question!
However, one can dream, n'es pas? I'd LOVE to live in New York, but I'm a "down South" kinda chick and I hate Winter weather. Florida was THE PLACE for us, specifically Tampa, but all of the new developments involving Florida aren't exactly appeasing to our appetites! (Travon Martin, anyone?!?) So, where do we go? What do we do? Until I resolve the issue, here I sit...complaining about how God-awful Boringham is to me. Wallow in my pity party with me, if you will? If not, I feel ya; you don't have to continue to click here! These posts are for those of us STUCK in a nowhere town with dreams (and delusions!) of grandeur. ** Clicking my shoes like Dorothy, "There's a BETTER place than home!"

| Todd English P.U.B. - Uptown District / B'ham , AL |
This rambling is not related to the above-mentioned book by the same name, but I AM wondering where I can find a great place to celebrate and entertain while living here in Birmingham. We do have our usual hunts...Five Points South, Hangouts on Highway 280, your random hole-in-the-wall nightclubs. Most of us succumb to the ole dinner & a movie card trick. (how many movies CAN YOU SEE in one month?)
I will say that I'm most impressed by the new Uptown entertainment district that is being finalized in Downtown B'ham. Fantastic! I absolutely love the new Todd English Pub (which has the best Apple Cider Beer EVER!) and it's a bit of a "home-away-from-home" experience, where you almost feel like you're in another city! However, Rome wasn't built in a day, and things are going to sloooooowly come around for Birmingham. People here are still resistant to change and aren't ready for a huge number of "outsiders" coming around our way. Remember how long we had to fight for a Whole Foods on Hwy 280? What about the new Trinity Hospital? You'd think it was World War III! Perhaps that is why, although Atlanta is only two hours away, it's worlds apart in terms of entertainment and financial growth. Change is a hard pill for some to swallow.
Ah, Boringham...how you tease me so with your shiny new goodness, lookin' like new penny. Oh, but that's all you're worth. Touché !
