I'm a Sociologist by nature and nurture. I'm extremely observant (over-analytical/critical, per friends and family) of the world we are living in. Living life is a SCREAM and I MUST comment! Here I am in the virtual flesh - The Analytic Critic!

Non "MF" Factor....
Sooooo....am I a NON MotherFather Factor, BISH?!?! LOL!
(I'm sorry, but this topic just burns my biscuit in a major way! - Please excuse the "Dirty Southness" of that expression! LOL!)
Being married to a Police Officer, who just happens to be a "Big, Black & Bald" dude, I get ignored when we're in public...A LOT! I'm talking about, even when he doesn't have on his uniform, people just don't "see" me when we enter a room. We could go to a store, and I'm the sole customer, and he won't purchase ANYTHING, and no one talks to me! Don't even get me started on the service-folks that visit our house (cable, plumbing, carpenters, etc) Am I a "Non MF Factor" in that equation?
I am the only "person of color" in my office. When I attend staff meetings, I'm VERY often ignored. I swear I'm the Invisible Woman, or riding in Wonder Woman's jet. I don't receive a "Hello", "Goodbye", "Hey", "Cat", "Dog", or any other salutation that you may think of! What's THAT all about? Is it because I live in the so-aptly named, "Dirty South" region America? It's definitely NOT because you don't see me....all 5'9" of me! Hmm....the plot thickens....
I pose this question - why are some people considered to be a Non MF Factor in certain equations? Do you see the person, but refuse to SEE the person, or even acknowledge them? Are you intimidated by the Non MF Factor, but refuse to admit it? Or, as in Evelyn's case above, you SWEAR you didn't know about the person and could care less?
You know, people who live in the majority of society have the luxury to totally ignore the minority. Whether that majority includes Men....Caucasians....or Gold-Digging Groupies ignoring the minority (Women, People of Color, Athlete's Wives) the minority can and will often go unnoticed and NOT heard! That's what being a part of a smaller group within a larger group of society is all about!
DISCLAIMER: Okay, okay...perhaps bringing the Basketball Wives into this metaphor was unnecessary and silly, but I hope you feel me and smell what I'm cooking! I COULD go all into the sheer uber ghetto-fied interactions between the women on the show, and how they will break out into a fight at a moment's notice (which definitely makes for guilty pleasure television-watching), but I'll save my feelings on THAT and more for another post! Gotta love me! LOL!
